Homemade Marinara Sauce

Made with simple ingredients that you likely have on hand!

  • 1 1.2 Tablespoon oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 1/2-2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 (15 oz.) cans tomato sauce


  1. In a medium sauce pot, heat the oil until warm. Once warm, add the diced onion and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Once the onions are softened, add the garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes more, or until fragrant. Add the Italian seasoning, salt and pepper, and tomato sauce and stir to combine. Taste and adjust seasonings as desired. Place a lid on the pot and let simmer for 40-60 minutes. The longer the sauce is cooked, the better it will taste!
