Have you heard of the #foodwritenow writing prompts created by Julia Turshen? What a great way to bring people together during these strange times that we are experiencing. I just heard about this yesterday, so I am catching up for the few days that I missed.
March 17 2020 Prompt (from Julia Turshen; @turshen on Instagram):
Is there a holiday food that you look forward to more than anything? What is it? What does it mean to you?
What comes to mind when I think of holiday foods are all of the comforting and delicious carb-loaded foods that I love: stuffing, mashed potatoes, biscuits, bread, green bean casserole, all of the delicious desserts, and pasta. Pasta is definitely the holiday food that I look forward to the most.
It is not just any kind of pasta, though. It is the pasta that my grandma makes for every big event. Birthdays, Christmas, family get togethers. It is the ultimate comfort food and no one can make it like she can. No matter how full I am, I always go for seconds or thirds because it is just so good. Living away from my family has made me appreciate the times that I do get to eat her amazing pasta even more now.
It makes me happy thinking about all of the times that I have eaten this pasta, because these times were all spent with family. Everyone is always in a good mood when we are eating this pasta and sitting around a big table and the deliciousness of this pasta probably contributes to the happy moods. It makes me think of family, of happy times, and of a full belly.
